Mental Health First Aider Training
July 5th, 2024
Caring is one of our core cultural values. Mental health and wellbeing is so important for everyone. We believe that more mental health awareness within our team will encourage people to talk more freely about mental health and create a more positive culture.
We have seen the real benefit of having Mental Health First Aiders within the business and wanted to increase the number of MHFA trained people within our team.
We offered out to everyone and quickly filled our two spaces plus a further four more! Coleg Cambria then offered to host the MHFA training course on our site in September 2024. They can train a maximum of 12 delegates which meant that Thomas Hardie Commercials (our next door Volvo dealership and key supplier) could also send 3 people to attend the course. We’re offering out the remaining 3 spaces to our customers and suppliers.
So what is a Mental Health First Aider? Like traditional first aiders who provide immediate assistance for physical injuries, MH First Aiders are trained to recognise those crucial warning signs of mental ill health and feel confident to guide someone to appropriate support. We believe that more mental health awareness within our team will encourage people to talk more freely about mental health and create a more positive culture.
The course is being funded by Employer Skills North Wales so it really is a great opportunity for us as a business to empower our team and also support others. If you’re a local business and not explored the ESNW funding then be quick – it finishes at the end of September 2024 – but covers a whole host of courses. Our team have benefited from IOSH Managing Safely and ILM Leadership and Mentorship training as a result so the funding has really made a positive impact on our people and our business as a result.
